The Slave's Training
Being your slave, what should I do but tend upon the hours and times of your desire?
As noted earlier, there are two aspects to slavery: The first involves general considerations of the lifestyle itself, such as commitment, attitude, and generally accepted manners. The second set of aspects vary widely from one relationship to another, each being very specialized, tailored by the couple themselves. Whereas the last chapter was devoted to training in general, this one will attempt to be more specific and point out those areas which are often unique from couple to couple.
In that regard, informal training often begins long before the two parties begin serious interviewing and negotiation. It often boils down to the imparting of simple information, meant to guide the process, and then moves on to specifics that illustrate the master-applicant's desires and the slave-candidate's willingness and ability to meet them. As an example, very early on, I "teach" my applicants about my timetable for enthrallment. That gives them an idea of how I am going to proceed.
If we do, indeed, progress, I will request certain forms of behavior, such as calling me "Sir" or responding promptly to e-mails and phone calls. In general, this "training" simply reinforces and explains my expectations concerning "early protocols," as previously discussed.
When a candidate arrives in my living room for a scene, we discuss limits and expectations and I try to answer any lingering doubts or questions. I also share some of the philosophy that I have about the slave's forthcoming experience, some of which will be training. I will tell them, for instance, that they are always free to ask any question, at any time, and that they can expect that I will do the same. Other masters may want to be asked questions only at specific times and under specific circumstances, which is why this instruction is particular, not general in nature.
I also stress that there is much to learn about serving me and that there is no way I can train a slave in every aspect of his service in the short time span of a first meeting. Early training centers on how the slave will address and treat me, as well as the protocols that I will expect him to keep while in my home, such as nudity and not sitting on furniture, except when necessary, such as for eating and using a computer. Other masters have different protocols, such as eating on the floor or wearing a specific uniform.
Understanding the Request
One of the prerequisites for successful training is that the student must understand what is being requested. As stated earlier, I believe it is the responsibility of the trainer to effectively communicate his or her instructions and to monitor the trainee to be sure that the communication was received both correctly and completely.
This is why my methodology differs from those masters who tend to want to keep their slaves "in the dark," why I encourage my slave-applicants and trainees to ask questions, and
